Allergies occur when the immune system overreacts to small amounts of foreign substances we breath in or come in contact with. One in four North Americans or some 80 million people suffer from allergies. Only a small amount of these suffer from food allergies. Many more suffer from reactions to pollen and other inhaled substances, medications and others that are absorbed into our skin. Plus seasonal allergies usually from pollens.
In order to eliminate or neutralize the allergin your cells must release histamine and other chemicals, causing a combination of symtoms like the runny nose, itchy red eyes, sneezing, sinus headache, scatchy throat and more we call allergies. But when you buy an over the counter antihistamine for relief it may do more harm than good say some altenative doctors.
The most serious aspect of an inhalant allergy is that there is a chance it could trigger an asthma attack, which could be fatal. If you have trouble getting your allergies under control, seek help from an allergist.
Find an allergist who offers a wide range of possible tests and treatments, like fasting and food testing to detect food allergies since they can worsen inhalant allergies. Bronchial inhalation testing which will detect sensitivities to chemicals and other enviromental factors. Kinesiology testing where the doctor measures your muscle strength as you hold certain substances. Weaknes indicates an allergic reaction. Cytotoxic testing is a blood test to detect chemical and blood allergies. ALCAT test for allergy to mold, food or chemicals.Patch testing to check for allergic reactions to substances that touch the skin.
Nettle: The Top Herbal Antihistamine.
A large percentage of allergy patients who take the herb stinging nettle do not need to take any other medication for symptom relief.
To improve on the effectiveness of the herb start taking it a couple of weeks before allergy season begins. Take 2 300 milligram capsules of freeze dried nettle 3 times per day.
