Why are individuals who are psychopath allowed to work in mental health care?
It is funny because the people who do things to provoke a response believe they can do whatever they desire or want to do, with complete disregard for others. They lack the ability to properly empathize with patients who have depression.So, aren't the symptoms of a psychopath the inability to empathize with others? Isn't another symptom behaving with a complete disregard for others?They also tend to have a belief that they are more important than their patients. What personality disorder is that a symptom of?No, I actually had some very good mental health treatment in the past. I am not overgeneralizing.

Confused about my mental health care?
Basically, I was hospitalised in late 2006 for a psychotic episode. I was out after a couple of months and given a psychiatrist to see every few months or so, as well as a Community Psychiatric Nurse who I see at least once a month.The problem is that whenever I see my nurse or psychiatrist, I tell them about my problems, such as social anxiety which I have very severely and they just listen but won't prescribe me any medication, which I really feel I need.They did provide a therapist for me, but not only did I not find him helpful, my nurse also let it slip that the contents of my sessions with him were shared with the entire mental health team as part of their practice. I found this very upsetting as he'd told me our sessions would be confidential, and I stopped seeing him any more.Also, the mental health team have a social group, which they organise, where they invite young people who are mental hospital outpatients to do activities like go to the cinema, go for a meal, etc. My psychiatrist revealed to me that at these social groups the people organising it take notes on people's behaviour and report back.So I feel a little paranoid that for any activity they plan for me, it turns out there's an ulterior motive. Also, I'm frustrated that they won't provide me any medication when I'm sure I need it. I don't see what good they are doing me. Should I cut off contact with them?

Last night after an episode, she called the Ct Children's Hospital who told her they only take kids in who are either threatening suicide or violence. Where do you go to help these kids? How do you get mental health care in Chicago without insurance?
I need help. In Sept 2009, I was hospitalized because of my suicidal ideations and self mutilation. I intially went to the county hospital to get treated for another health issue, but when they surveyed me in the triage and asked me if I had thoughts of harming myself, I said yes It was true Well, little did I know they put me on lockdown. They ended up shipping me to the nearby psych ward after holding me hostage for nearly 14 hrs. When I got there, I told the dr about my issues w severe depression and social anxiety. I stayed for 5 days, and they shipped me off with 2 weeks worth of meds. They gave me two places to follow up with, and I mentioned that I didn't have health insurance if I did, I wouldn't have had to come to that hell hole . Anyway, I called both those places early Oct 2009 and for one, the number was out of service and the other did not take uninsured people. I was livid.To sum it all up, I haven't been on meds since. When the 2 weeks ran out, I went back to self medicating drinking heavily on a daily basis, experimenting w OTC drugs to see if I could get a numbing effect.....anything to feel normal.I don't want to live like this anymore. I am getting worse. I even applied for disability out of desperation, but I was declined b c they said I was young 27 , a college grad which shows resilience and I didn't have a consistent history of treatment.There seems to be no more options for me. I'm too old by almost two years to stay on my mother's insurance, the low income health care programs usually only cater to people w children and dire situations, and the health insurance at my crap min wage job is EXTREMELY expensive. I don't even qualify for it b c I am a short hr employee I make roughly a pathetic $600 mo .Lately, I have been getting so bad that I've been calling off work excessively. My moods are out of control and my reasoning abilities have been going down the drain.Sorry to rant, but I am so desperate. I just want to have a better life.
No insurance/low cost mental health care in San Diego?
I do not have any insurance and was wondering where I should go to get medication for depression and anxiety. I am not suicidal, but my depression is getting worse. I am not currently taking anything.I will consider counseling or grief counseling, but the medication is a must.
