What do i need to do, to become a mental health care worker in an nhs hospital?

Question: What do i need to do, to become a mental health care worker in an nhs hospital?

(Posted by: Abi on 2008-08-03 14:07:10)

I have been a full time carer for both my parents for some years, in a few months I will be able to re- join the working world, I have no recent work experience so have to go with what practical experiene I have, which is working with the mentally ill. Between now and when I can start looking for a job, I would like to do some appropriate training or education to help me get this sort of job, what would be the best rout for me to take?:)

A nurse assistant does a lot and in different fields so this will be your best bet maybe some nursing homes will pay for your tuition and help you get started do not pay a lot for training look around first employment center tech schools that offer state certificates or search the net for a good and less time consuming course

Although I suffer occasional bouts of mental illness I am a Nurse Assistant (mental health) for the NHS. They do recruit an element of people without previous experience or qualifications as they look for personal qualities first and provide full training on the job. Maybe do some voluntary work for a mental health charity first as there is tough competition for those jobs. The work is stressful, but very rewarding. Good luck.
