Does anyone know the mental health laws in Missouri? Someone I know was diagnosed with scizophrenia but refuse?
to take prescribed medication. Crazy people don't know or think their crazy and I can not force this person to take the medication because he is 27 years old. In Missouri a person must threaten to harm their self or someone else in order for someone to get power of attorney over them. Any suggestions?He is becoming an alcoholic and spends hours writing thousands of numbers in a notebook ? . He cant function sufficiently enough to work and gets angry at family members for no apparent reason and refuses to speak to them for weeks at a time. He spends hours a day stuck in a daze and doing other strange, unproductive things. I would not want to force him to take meds if he did not need them, DUH Please keep all rude comments to yourself.

Could someone with knowledge of mental health law help me please?
My daughter is currently a patient in a mental health hospital. She has been there for some months now. Shes on anti psychotic medication. We have tried to get the Dr to change her medication as the ones she is on just now are having no effect on her.Two months ago he said he would change her medication but still hasnt done so. On 2 ocations in the last month he told my daughter he was going to change her med that week, but then didnt do so. He gave her no reason for this action. All this was said in front of an advocacy rep who sat in with my daughter during her sessions with this psychiatrist. I feel that this Dr has blatently lied to us and shown a total disreguard and disrespect for my daughter. Do we have a case to bring some kind of legal action against this Dr? Sorry i cant go into to much detail as there is a lot more I could say , but I hope this is enough information for you.The psychiatrist is a locum filling in for a consultant who left the hospital 2 months ago .We are in Scotland.

if some one admits themselves the hospital wont let us know what is going on" the immediate family." if the hospital says she unstable will the notify us in other words if my sister is no longer in charge of whats happening to her right now she wants this and needs it because they gave her the wrong anti anxiety drug and was having problems when she stopped taking it now the hospital has legal ed up and wont let us talk to her or give us any info what can we do i am ready to go in the and play out a scene from one flew over the cuckoo nest to get myself admitted just to make sure she is all rightshe has no history of anything like this in fact she is a RN with 10 plus years expthey 1st admitted they made a mistake now they wont tell us anythingthe place is boone hospital center MOfound out that if she does not contact work she's fired and wont have insurance and the place she is at wont see her without it so they will probally boot her out
